Prerequisites:

College or Medical school

Number of Openings: 2

Program Objective:

To study pituitary tumorigenesis

Program Description:

College students will be introduced to molecular endocrinology. Medical School students will use clinical research or laboratory techniques to approach a question about factors causing pituitary tumors. A new focus of this lab is on using gene array technology to compare human pituitary tumors and normal pituitary from autopsy samples.

A list of potential genes has been identified and studies will ask whether these proteins are markers for tumor type or aggressiveness and study the function of these proteins in the development or maintenance of pituitary tumors.
