Colorado Colorectal Screening Program

Colorado Colorectal Screening Program has received a 78% budget reduction for this fiscal year (July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012).

For details regarding this budget reduction, please click here

The program is maintaining endoscopic screening in rural Colorado,  while switching to an FOBT/FIT program in urban areas to meet the needs of the population.

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death affecting both men and women. The best way to test and prevent colorectal cancer is by finding and removing polyps (small growths that can develop into cancer over time) through endoscopic screening. Most people with colorectal cancer have no symptoms.

The Colorado Colorectal Screening Program is a statewide program that partners with health care providers to provide no cost colorectal screening to the underserved.

The Program, coordinated through the University of Colorado Cancer Center, has partnership with more than 65 community health clinics across Colorado. These community clinics will offer no cost endoscopic screenings (colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy) to those who qualify.
