Advanced Clinical Training & Service Program

Service learning for dental students

ACTS Program
The Advanced Clinical Training & Service (ACTS) program is a service learning program in which fourth-year dental students provide dental services in an underserved community. Under the supervision of practicing dentists, students provide dental care to children and adults whose access to services is constrained by financial, geographical, physical or medical factors. There are over 25 clinical sites, including community health centers.

Become an ACTS Host Home

CU Dental is proud to partner with the Colorado Area Health Education Center (AHEC) to provide housing opportunities for our students during their ACTS rotations across the state of Colorado.

Limited affordable housing makes distant rotations more challenging to place our students, but you can help! If you have an extra room in your home, please consider hosting a dental student for a typical three-week rotation.

Hosts make a big impact:

  • Help students reach their academic goals

  • Introduce students to your town

  • Support efforts to improve dental care in your community

Students respect your home and:

  • Clean up after themselves throughout their stay

  • Provide all their own toiletries, towels, bed linens and food items

  • Are not permitted to bring overnight guests, family members or pets

Hosts must provide:

  • House keys or 24/7 access to home

  • Private bedroom with lock

  • Private or shared bathroom

  • Kitchen and laundry access

  • Available parking

  • Internet access

  • Non-smoking environment

  • Working smoke and carbon dioxide detectors

  • Fire escape plan

Become a Host:

  • Submit the Host Home Form

  • Provide social security number and date of birth for a background check (no cost to you)

  • Host students for a typical three-week rotation

  • Receive $15/night for the duration of the student's stay
