Students can choose between 2 options for studying abroad:

  1. CU Denver Programs - are led by CU Denver faculty and students can earn CU Denver credit while abroad
  2. Non-CU Denver Programs - 3rd party providers for programs throughout the world. Students may still be able to earn transfer credit from foreign institutions.

      • CU Denver Financial Aid can be applied towards studying abroad for both CU and Non-CU Programs.​
  1. ​Scholarships
        • Many scholarships for students wishing to study abroad are ava​ilable. 



  1. Non-CU Denver programs only: Apply to 3rd party program provider
      • Get your program approved by our office before beginning to apply
      • Each provider has their own application process and requirements. Contact your provider for information.      
  2. ALL programs: Complete CU Denver Study Abroad online application
      • Non-CU Denver programs: we will email you a link to our application
      • CU-Denver programs: the link to the application is located on each program webpage


Prepare for Departure

Prepare for departure

  1. Apply for your passport
  2. Apply for visa
      • Student visas are usually required based on the location and duration of your program. Contact your program provider for more details.
  3. Attend pre-departure orientation
      • You will be contacted by us to set a date for your pre-departure orientation. Attendance required. 

When you

When you return

      • After you return our office will process your transcript once we receive it. This could take several months.
