Financial Aid

Making study abroad possible

The majority of financial aid that students receive may be applied towards approved study abroad programs.

Many CU Denver students who study abroad do so with the support of financial aid. Your aid allocation is based not only on your program fee and tuition, but also on the estimated additional costs of travel and living abroad.

We strongly encourage you to visit the Financial Aid Office as early as possible so that you have a clear picture of what financial resources you have as you make the decision to study abroad. Students may speak with Mary Morales (303.315.1848), who specializes in financial aid for students studying abroad.

Next steps

  • Prepare an estimated budget for your Study abroad choice(s)
  • Meet with an advisor in the Financial Aid Office.
  • Complete and submit the Study Abroad Financial Aid Packet to the Financial Aid Office.
  • Explore scholarship options that may be available to you

Students using financial aid towards Maymester and Summer programs should keep in mind that both are considered part of summer term financial aid. During the summer semester term, students must be registered for at least half-time status (6 credits for undergraduates, 3 credits for graduate) to be eligible for financial aid.
