Global Issues in Thailand​

We are living in a global context. Humans are traversing the globe more than ever before. This brings citizens of different countries closer together and opens doors to greater understanding of cultural diversity. At the same time, crime, economic and political problems increasingly require international cooperation and support. This course explores a number of social issues from a global perspective.

Food Fight in Spain​

Food exemplifies how we view ourselves and others and can be the center of political and social issues.  From the Spanish home kitchen to the trendiest restaurant kitchen, from the daily markets to the olive groves and vineyards we will analyze how Spaniards and Catalans use food to create competing regional, national and global identities.

This experience introduces students to the important role geography plays in everyday life.

Democracy and Development - India​

The world’s largest democracy and an emerging economy, India embodies a series of paradoxes: self-confident urban middle classes, continuing poverty and inequality, urban/rural divide, vibrant social movements and NGOs, and the seventh decade of free elections. This Global Study will examine these paradoxes in order to explore the strengths and challenges in Indian political and economic development today.

Architecture in Other Cultures - Thailand

This Global Study will provide a broad introduction to Thai cultural and architectural traditions from the vernacular to urbanism, from temples and palaces to the hectic pace of urban Bangkok.

In this Winterim project, students fully explore the design phase implementation, estimating, scheduling and project management skills required in traditional construction.

Global Health Practicum - Nepal

Expansion in global communication, travel and trade has increased the need for clinical and public health professionals who understand health issues that transcend national and continental borders.
