From the Andes to the Pacific

An Exploration of Business in Chile

Chile is one of South America’s most economically developed countries, with a diversified free-market economy. The trip to Chile will involve a selection of visits to multinational and local Chilean businesses in industries including mining, agriculture, technology, energy, skiing, and soccer. Students will learn first-hand of how companies use Information Technology, Marketing, as well as gain insight into the Colorado economy due to its similarity with the Chilean economy.
Information Technology and Marketing are key value chain activities for business success. IT is an integral part of all aspects of marketing; from new product development and marketing campaign launch to customer service and relationship management. To provide the international business context, students will participate in on-site business visits during a ten day field trip to Santiago, Chile.
Through the completion of this course, students will gain exposure to (1) the business and economic makeup of Chile (2) how local and multinational firms are using technology enabled marketing in Chile, and (3) gain exposure to the culture and traditions of businesses and citizens of a foreign country.
Program Information:
The course may be used to fulfill a requirement of the undergraduate program; (1) University International Perspectives, (2) Business School Experiential Learning, or (3) Business School International Studies.
