Apply to the ESL Academy (if necessary) and Receive Decision

The ESL Academy is an exciting option for students who need to study English prior to enrolling into their degree program. An English proficiency based "Conditional Admission" is available for all undergraduate programs, but only some graduate programs. Please consult International Admissions to see if this option is available for you. Completion of the ESL Academy will automatically satisfy CU Denver’s English language proficiency requirement and the ESL Academy curriculum is designed especially for university-bound students like you!

It is advised that students first apply to the ESL Academy and gain entry before applying to a CU Denver degree-program for conditional admission. This will decrease the amount of processing time for your application.

Apply to the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus

Applying to CU Denver is the first step in an exciting academic career. Complete the online application by filling in all of the required fields, including your complete academic history, and hit submit. It is not uncommon for applicants to save their application and forget to hit the submit button. You will also need to pay the $75 application fee. You may do so online with a credit card at the time you submit your online application, or you may send a check. You will receive confirmation from International Admissions that your application has been received, along with a list of any missing items, 2-3 business days after completing the online form.

• Transcripts (Original and English Translation)
• Proof of English Language Proficiency
• Test Scores GRE, GMAT, etc. (Undergraduate SAT/ACT optional)
• Statement of Purpose, Personal Statement, Essay, and/or Writing Sample

Graduate Applicants (as required by the department or school)

• Letters of Recommendation
• See your academic department for any additional requirements unique to your program

Application Processing

The International Admissions Committee will not be able to consider your application until it is complete. The contents of a complete application will vary depending on your academic program. Undergraduate applicants should consult International Admissions for details. Graduate students may contact International Admissions or their respective academic department.

Undergraduate applicants can check the status of their application online. Please note that it will take several business days from the time something is mailed to our office until it is updated in the online checklist.

Decision Letter Emailed/Mailed

The International Admission team is staffed with professionals trained in foreign education systems and the analysis of foreign academic credentials. We are prepared to professionally evaluate your academic credentials to aid the Admissions Committee in making a decision for the University of Colorado Denver. Some graduate programs will require that you submit a credential evaluation from an independent third-party organization, and it is important that you comply.

Application Materials Forwarded to International Student and Scholar Services Office for Visa/Immigration Processing

All admission decisions are made by an Admissions Committee composed of professional staff and/or faculty. The undergraduate committee meets frequently throughout the year, while some graduate program admission committees meet only once or twice a semester.

There are a few possible outcomes from the Admissions Committee:

1. Offer full admission to CU Denver in your desired program
2. Offer full admission to CU Denver in a pre-professional concentration that will allow you to pursue the necessary pre-requisites
3. Offer conditional admission to CU Denver, pending submission of ELP (if available)
4. The Admissions Committee may request additional information
5. Admission may be denied
