There are few careers that are as rewarding, demanding, exhilarating and challenging as that of a special education teacher. Currently, there is a critical shortage of special education teachers in the state of Colorado as well as across the country.
This hybrid CU Denver Special Education program (which includes online courses, face-to-face meetings as well as an internship), emphasizes the development of reflective practitioners. This program strives to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse population of students.
Program Summary
This CU Denver hybrid endorsement program offers you the opportunity to obtain a self-paced special education endorsement.
This ten course SPED program (26 credits) is designed for teachers already licensed to teach in Colorado. Some classes are fully-online and others are evening face-to-face classes, which you can mix and match.
Specifically, this is program is perfect if you are:
- A teacher without the formal credentials required to serve students with disabilities.
- Already in possession of a general education license and wish to build on that expertise.
- Looking to improve your ability to meet the needs of all learners.
An optional four courses and portfolio can be completed to earn a Masters in Special Education.
