College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS) ranks as the University of Colorado Denver's largest school on the Downtown Denver campus.

Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (CTESOL)The Program is designed to build the necessary skills to teach English as a Second Language. It provides a focused preparation for the teaching of English as a Second Language. It is primarily aimed at native speakers of English who want to teach overseas but may serve the needs of international students wanting to teach English in their home country or other countries

 

School of Education and Human Development

As the largest graduate School of Education in Colorado, the School of Ed is committed to developing forward-thinking educators and counselors who have a deep sense of critical inquiry, and the cultural competence needed to serve urban, diverse populations.

Adolescent Literacy Certificate
This program is designed as a series of three graduate-level courses specifically designed to help licensed teachers develop the skills necessary to reach middle and high school student readers and writers, especially those struggling academically... Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate
The School of Education and Human Development is now offering two course sequences in Behavior Analysis to prepare you to become effective Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA®), or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBA®) . These course sequences are offered through Continuing and Professional Education, and meet criteria established by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB®) for approved coursework. Once you complete the program, you will not have to provide further coursework documentation when applying for the BCBA® or BCaBA® examinations.

ECSE, Specialist License
This program will prepare you with a solid background in assessment, teaching, intervention and collaboration to help you be successful in your career. Your licensure course work will include fascinating topics such as child growth and development, approaches to young children's learning, curriculum and program development, family-centered practice, culturally-responsive teaching in multicultural and multilingual settings, medical and physiological aspects of developmental disabilities, social and cognitive development/disorders, screening and assessment of young children, and intervention strategies.

Early Literacy Certificate

The certificate will feature an overview of the principles of behavior change as they relate to health education in both theory and practice, the application of behavior theory as it applies to specific health content knowledge and skills, and finally it will provide an overview of health education teaching and learning strategies for use in school settings.

The Online Teaching certificate program is designed for K-12, college and university educators interested in creating and teaching online and blended courses, or using Web-based/Web 2.0 components to enhance face-to-face instruction.
