CU Online Faculty Seminar Schedule and Center for Faculty Development Workshops

Listed below is the schedule of seminars offered by CU Online that discuss online course development and delivery.  These seminars are free to UC Denver faculty on the downtown denver campus (ddc) and the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC).

Canvas Support Session

Need help setting up your grade book? Interested in using the SpeedGrader, but not sure how to get started? Want feedback on a group project idea? The academic technology team will be available to answer questions and brainstorm ideas for utilizing Canvas.

Canvas makes it easy to create content, including images, audio, video, and interactive multimedia. Come learn tips and tricks for making your content shine, and best practices for adapting existing resources into your Canvas course.

Tips for Using TurnItin

TurnItin is more than just a plagiarism detection tool. In this session, CU Online will provide tips for using the TurnItin suite and provide example assignments for making use of the tools.

Diving Deeper: Quizzes and Survey in Canvas *Lunch and Learn with CFD

Come learn how to use Canvas to assign online quizzes, exams and surveys to your students. This session will review creating, managing and grading online exams using the built in Canvas quiz tool.

Thinking About Summer Semester? Come Learn the Basics

This hands-on workshop is great for faculty just getting started with Canvas or someone who wants to get a jump start on developing their summer course. We will provide a basic overview of the features of Canvas including: files, content pages, discussions and quizzes. We will also review announcements, notifications and messages in Canvas. During the second two hours of the workshop, participants will be able to ask specific questions related to their course to the academic technology team.

Save the Date – CU Online 12th Annual Spring Symposium, Thursday, May 22
Back by popular demand—the spring’s biggest online teaching event! Come join your colleagues and meet new faces at the CU Online 12th Annual Spring Symposium.  Enjoy a day of online tips and techniques will help broaden your online teaching skills and be an opportunity to share experiences with other faculty.  

This year’s Keynote speakers are Samantha Adams Becker, the Senior Director Communications for The New Media Consortium and lead writer and researcher for the Horizon Report, and Richard DeMillo, Distinguished Professor of Computing and Professor of Management at the Georgia Institute of Technology and author of "Abelard to Apple: The Face of American Colleges and Universities".  A can’t miss opportunity.
