With the holidays approaching, I want to again express my gratitude for your hard work and thoughtful service to the university. Governor Hickenlooper last week authorized an extra holiday for state employees, and I am granting our faculty and staff an additional holiday as well. CU Anschutz faculty and staff may take either Friday, December 29 or Tuesday, January 2 as a day off, in alignment with your school/college/unit’s operational needs as directed by its leadership. All units are required to be open on these dates with at least essential personnel.
Normal leave policies will apply to these additional holidays. These closures do not affect the operations of the University of Colorado Hospital, Children’s Hospital Colorado or their clinics on campus. Hospital operations are normal unless otherwise announced by those facilities. Students, faculty and staff assigned to work in any University of Colorado Hospital or Children’s Hospital Colorado space are responsible for patient care and clinical operations, and must report to work unless the specific hospital or clinic announces a change in operations. If you are required to work on both December 29 and January 2, you may choose an alternate day before the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2018, with your supervisor’s approval.
Questions from staff and non-clinical faculty should be directed to your school/college/unit’s Human Resources representative. Questions from clinical faculty should be directed to your school’s clinical faculty leadership. Employees from consolidated units serving both campuses should take the holiday that aligns the campus schedule they are following: December 29 or January 2 for CU Anschutz, November 24 for CU Denver.
I know that additional time with family and friends is one of the most precious gifts any of us can receive. I hope you enjoy the extra day off. It is given with my heartfelt thanks for all that you do, every day, to make the CU Anschutz Medical Campus a wonderful place to work and learn.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season,
