Additional Holiday, 11-3-16
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, I want to again express my gratitude
for your hard work and thoughtful service to the university. Because of your
commitment and productivity, we continue to succeed and grow in teaching,
research, creative work, clinical care and service to the state and
Governor Hickenlooper announced last Friday that he is authorizing an extra
holiday this year for the state’s classified staff. In the spirit of giving
thanks, I have decided to join the governor and by add one extra holiday for
university staff and faculty as well.
While the Governor identified November 25 as the extra holiday for most of the
state’s classified staff, based on the university’s needs and our current
university holiday schedules and out of consideration for our affiliate partner
schedules, we have identified January 2, 2017 as our additional holiday for
classified staff, university staff and faculty.
I know that additional time with family and friends is one of the most precious
gifts any of us can receive. I hope you enjoy the extra day off. It is given
with my heartfelt thanks for all that you do, every day, to make the University
of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus a wonderful place to work and learn.
Normal leave policies will apply to these additional holidays. This closure
does not affect the operations of the University of Colorado Hospital,
Children’s Hospital Colorado or their clinics on campus. Hospital operations
are normal unless otherwise announced by those facilities. Students, faculty
and staff assigned to work in any University of Colorado Hospital or Children’s
Hospital Colorado space are responsible for patient care and clinical operations,
and must report to work unless the specific hospital or clinic announces a
change in operations. If you are required to work on January 2, you may choose
an alternate day before the end of the fiscal year 6/30/17, in coordination
with your supervisors, to take administrative leave.
Questions from staff and non-clinical faculty should be directed to Kevin
Jacobs, Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources, at 303-315-2727 or Kevin.Jacobs@ucdenver.edu. Questions
from clinical faculty should be directed to your School’s clinical faculty
This day off is one way we can acknowledge the time, talent and enthusiasm each
of you brings to the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. Thank you for contributing to
our collective success.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season,
