Photography in Florence​ (Summer)

Photography in Florence investigates the relationship between artistic theories, historically significant works of art, and early photographic processes in the unique setting of Florence, Italy. Students use large format cameras on location and learn 19th century photographic processes such as albumen and salted paper printing.

Digital Scandinavia   

Scandinavian by Design (Summer)

Scandinavian design culture and practice is dedicated to design that can improve the quality of life both locally and globally. Through site visits, studio tours, guest lectures, readings and assignments students in “Scandinavian by Design” will gain first-hand experience of the many variables that have and continue to influence the Scandinavian mindset in relation to art, design, visual culture, process and execution.

In the tradition of both ​the flaneur and the studio artist, students will take in the rich history of Florence from Roman to Renaissance to modern times. Students will document their observations by notes and drawings in handmade books every afternoon and work in the studios at the beautiful Santa Reparata International School of Art every morning.
