The Staff Spotlight gives our campus community a chance to get to know more about our TIPS team members and what they do! Today, we are featuring Senior Instructional Technologist and Trainer, Amy Linville.
How do you bring your previous professional experiences to bear on the work you do here with TIPS? I am a Senior Instructional Technologist and Trainer and have been with CU Denver for nearly ten years. Prior to CU Denver, I taught technology and physical education to K-12 students. I worked with students from very diverse backgrounds and skillsets and really strived to create personal connections with all of my students. I enjoy investigating the next trend in technology and learning about all the newest tools, so I decided to further my education at CU Denver. I graduated from CU Denver with a Master's degree in Information & Learning Technologies in 2014 and have been working with the university ever since.
What’s a project you’ve worked on recently that you are proud of or excited about? The past few years I have been creating training videos with Camtasia (video editing tool) on a variety of technologies. I went from having zero Camtasia experience to creating polished, engaging, and professional videos in a snap. There is always something new to learn with this video tool and I really like the feedback I receive from faculty when they learn a new skill or tool from my videos. You can check out my videos here.
What do you find most meaningful about your current role? The best part about my job is meeting with faculty 1-on-1 to offer support or guidance when it comes to educational technology. I truly enjoy learning about each person individually while also providing support. I have made some amazing connections and friendships over the years, and I strive to create a bond with every person that I meet.
Finally, tell us a little about yourself outside of work! Outside of work you can find me outside! I love going for walks, runs, hikes, stand up paddling, and going for bike rides. I also love going to concerts and learning to play the piano. My kiddos and doggo accompany me on all my adventures, too!
