Campus Happenings Summer Communications

Keeping you informed: We've suspended our weekly student events e-newsletter distribution for the summer. Instead, we'll send updates as needed, and will return to our regularly scheduled Monday distributions in August. We’ll also continue to post campus news to this Campus Happenings web page, so check in frequently.

It’s here! New-look UCDAccess student portal: Don’t be surprised the next time you log into your UCDAccess student portal. It looks different! It’s been updated and streamlined, making it easier for you to navigate. Got a required action you need to complete? Now you can get it done quickly and get on with your life. You’ll notice you can still click into the former, classic, portal. You can still use that, but by the time the fall 2020 semester starts, the new portal will be the only one available. Don't see it? Try clearing your cache.

Planning for fall: On Thursday, June 4, the campus community received a Safe Return to Campus communication from Chancellor Dorothy Horrell. She announced that there will be no tuition increase for fall 2020, nor spring 2021, and outlined the possible options to introduce students, faculty, and staff safely back to campus for the fall semester. These procedures focus on safety and a flexible approach to teaching and learning, including modifications to in-person classes, and online and hybrid classes. Additional guidance will be provided throughout the summer.

Remote login has changed: The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is boosting our cybersecurity efforts. Starting Tuesday, May 26, 2020, everyone is now required to use Duo Security, a multi-factor authentication (MFA), in order to connect remotely to any university Office 365 app, including Outlook email. Instructions on how to use Duo and details about the upgrade are on OIT’s CU Secure and Multi-factor Authentications (MFA) web page. Please note some older devices/browsers may stop working when MFA is required.

Modified Grading Policy includes summer 2020 semester: The university’s temporary grading option that was already available for spring 2020 courses is in place for summer semester, too. All students can elect to convert letter grades to Pass Plus/Pass/No Pass (P+/P/NP) for any undergraduate or graduate course taken this summer semester. Before deciding, you must talk about potential impacts with your advisor, or for some graduate programs, your program director. Check online for Modified Grading Policy instructions & additional details.
