CU Denver Goes Underground
Many of the artists participating in the Underground Music Showcase are alumni of CU Denver’s Music & Entertainment Industry Studies program, while an intricate collaboration between CU Denver and Youth on Record has helped Denver’s music scene grow into what it is today. Since 2022, UMS has been co-owned by the Denver nonprofit Youth on Record, Co-founded by CU Denver faculty member and alum Andy Guerrero '07 .
Leveling the Playing Field in Corporate America
CU Denver’s Business School introduced Empowering Women in Business (EWiB) last fall to equip students with the distinct tools they need to navigate the workforce and successfully pursue leadership roles in their careers. Now in its second semester, EWiB has served as an incredible beacon of inspiration that acknowledges often overlooked issues regarding the playing field between men and women in the workplace.

Election Series Event: Colorado Ballot Initiatives

Cost/fee: Free Join the School of Public Affairs for the next in their Fall 2024 Election Series. Direct democracy is appealing to some voters who believe there are problems legislators don’t address and that a ballot initiative can be a solution. But many are concerned by the volume and complexity of the proposals, and 2024 is an example of the issue. Fourteen statewide propositions crowd the ballot, ranging from animal rights to guns, and from abortion to criminal justice and education. Some, if passed, represent significant changes to public policy, which is not necessarily evident in the ballot wording.
