The Office of Academic Achievement promotes the creation of high-quality learning experiences in and out of the classroom. We support faculty as they create courses that help students learn, persist, and ultimately graduate. We serve students by providing support for their academic endeavors through advising, tutoring, peer mentoring, and tools for classroom success. We also provide opportunities for enhanced student engagement through research, honors coursework, first-year experiences, and leadership training. From orientation through graduation our programs help students achieve their academics goals, setting them up for success at CU Denver and beyond.

This project focuses on improving the retention of first-year students through an integrated approach that ensures that every student has an unparalleled first-year at CU Denver, with high levels of engagement, access to excellent support services, quality courses, and predictable navigation of university systems. Specifically, this project seeks to enhance the quality of introductory gateway courses, create proactive first-year advising practices, enhance new student orientation, expand tutoring and supplemental instruction for targeted courses, and expand options for FYE courses.
