Healthy Campus Steering Committee 2019-2020

​The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is committed to engaging students, staff, faculty, and community partners to guide our work in providing the structures, services, and resources necessary to develop thriving and successful students. 

The Office of Student Health Promotion has convened a group comprised of campus-wide leadership and partners, representative of the campus community, to provide strategic direction for student health promotion work by advising and directing action groups based on identified health objectives.

Roles and responsibilities of the Healthy Campus Steering Committee include:

  • Establish a mission, vision, and goals for the committee aligned with the mission, vision and/or goals of CU Anschutz
  • Assess, track, and analyze the health and wellness needs and interests of our students
  • Collectively make strategic health and wellness recommendations to campus leadership and action groups
  • Advocate for a stronger culture of wellness by communicating the connection between well-being and student success to key stakeholders
  • Encourage schools to include health and well-being goals in their annual strategic plans and/or their missions
  • Support infusion of health promotion strategies and skills in student learning objectives and curriculum
  • Create, implement and monitor strategic plans
  • Develop/review/communicate health promotion related policy
  • Evaluation of health promotion work and assessment of impact through use of effective evaluation tools
  • Sustainability planning
  • Garner leadership support for health promotion work
  • Mobilize resources around health promotion
  • Build capacity for sustainable well-being work
  • Design programs and initiatives based on identified needs and goals
  • Build effective media and communications​
Upcoming committee objectives include: ​

  • Conducting comprehensive baseline data collection, including the following: 
        1. ​​ACHA Health Behaviors Survey
        2. ​​Climate/Culture Audit
        3. ​​​Needs/Interests Survey
  • JED Foundation Assessment
  • Mission/Vision Development
  • Development of a Healthy Campus Strategic Plan
