Schedule a Test

Testing Locations

You can schedule same-day appointments at the 5th Street Garage. Results are typically available within 36 hours. Other sites for testing are available from your healthcare provider and COVIDCheckColorado.

Tracing Protocol

CU Denver conducts contact tracing for COVID-19. The purpose is to identify others who are at risk of infection due to their contact with a person who has tested positive, inform them of their potential exposure, and provide quarantine advice and support.

If you test positive for COVID-19, please DO NOT come to campus, submit the COVID-19 Self-Reporting Form and wait for the Contact Tracing Team to contact you.

Testing - Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. If you test positive for COVID-19, please DO NOT come to campus, inform CU Denver using this form and wait for the Contact Tracing Team to contact you. Inform your instructors or supervisor.

Testing is free and you can schedule same-day appointments at the Health Center of Auraria as well as several other sites around the metro area. Other sites for testing are available from your healthcare provider and/or COVIDCheckColorado.

You may also request at-home tests from the federal government. Although they have limitations and shouldn’t be used for diagnosis, they offer a level of information and protection.

No. At this time, routine testing for unvaccinated individuals is not required, but recommended to help keep the community safe.

If a student in your class or an employee in your unit informs you they have tested positive for COVID-19, remind them they must stay home and ask them to fill out a COVID-19 Self-Report Form.

The COVID-19 Team will assess the exposure risk and respond with any further instructions. It is not necessary to move class to remote instruction, arrange testing of other students or employees, or request cleaning unless instructed to do so by the COVID-19 Team.

It is NEVER ok to share the name of a positive student or employee to the class or work unit.

Please reference the COVID-19 Self-Reporting Guide for further information.

If you have a question about a student or employee’s status, email the Public Health Response Director: Lacey.Klindt@ucdenver.edu

If you test positive for COVID-19 either on a rapid (or at home) test, or on a PCR test - take the following steps immediately:

  1. Isolate and follow CDC guidance. DO NOT COME TO CAMPUS WHILE ISOLATING.
  2. Fill out a self-report form to disclose your status regardless of where the test was performed and regardless of whether they have been physically present on campus. Your health information is kept confidential.
  3. Inform your professor(s) or inform your supervisor, if you are an employee of your absence.  (The COVID-19 Team will never disclose your health information, rather – they only share that you are unable to come to campus.)

Use the CU Denver referral form if you know of anyone who needs support or if you have a concern about something related to the spread of COVID-19.
