Getting Started

All applicants must interview with Program Director Barbara Paradiso to discuss the unique nature of the content, cohort structure and scheduling for the Program on Gender-Based Violence (PGV).

Students come from around the world to participate in the PGV, which combines online work with weeklong “intensives” twice per year in Denver.

Get Your Degree

You must adhere to all master degree program requirements. Students are admitted first to the degree program, and then to the Program on Gender-Based Violence (PGV).

Some of our degree seeking students are:

  • Domestic violence practitioners — advocates, counselors, activists, social workers, and other victims’ services and domestic violence workers — who seek to enhance their management and policy skills.
  • Managers in related fields who seek to gain an understanding of domestic violence and the policies, services and public consciousness surrounding it.
  • Professionals interested in making a career change.
  • Recent college graduates interested in entering the field of gender-based violence.

Get Your Certificate

A non-degree student is a student who registers for courses, but is not enrolled in an official degree program at CU Denver. Any student who has already earned a bachelor's degree or higher must complete the application for a graduate non-degree student.

You may be interested in taking classes for many reasons. For example:

  • Deepen your understanding of gender-based violence
  • Examine the ways in which gender-based violence intersects with the work you already do, professionally and within your community
  • Explore your own personal enrichment
