Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning

We serve all faculty and educators from all areas and disciplines at CU Denver. We focus on supporting everyone and anyone in all stages of their teaching career. If you teach a course at CU Denver, part-time or full-time, we are here to support you.

All are welcome in CETL.

Our goal is to enhance excellence in undergraduate and graduate education through the development of faculty committed to implementing and advancing effective teaching practices. We promote university teaching that helps students learn, persist, succeed, and ultimately graduate.  With a strong commitment to honoring the interconnectedness of teaching and learning, we work to foster the use of evidence-based educational strategies that have been demonstrated to foster learning and improve academic outcomes for students.

Our Mission

The mission of the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning is to support faculty and educators in their pursuit of teaching excellence so as to promote the intellectual and personal growth of all students at CU Denver. With a strong commitment to honoring the interconnectedness of teaching and learning, CETL works to foster the use of evidence-based educational strategies that have been demonstrated to foster learning and improve academic outcomes for students.

We provide support to CU Denver faculty looking to better themselves as educators, no matter their experience level. We help lecturers in our vital core courses learn how to master their lecture hall course with hundreds of students, to assist an expert educator in refining their syllabus to better help students.

Workshops & Events

We believe all students deserve an extraordinary education and that faculty members play a critical role in their success. CETL supports faculty members in the use of evidence-based teaching practices that drive student engagement, retention, and learning.

Our workshops are centered on assisting faculty members to be the best educators they can be. From a faculty fellow led programming to semester long community of practices, or our monthly Lunch & Learns - We have something for everyone! Our programs are designed to help you in your academic life as an educator, your day-to-day life, build campus community, and provide continued support throughout your time at CU Denver.

Faculty Fellows

Faculty Fellows play a leadership role in CETL programming and serve as liaisons between the departments and faculty. Over their fellowship appointment, they provide the experience, creativity, and energy that help support the ongoing renewal of teaching at CU Denver.
