Pay Raises for Faculty, University Staff Coming in January
am pleased to share that CU Denver will be implementing salary increases beginning in January 2022. As President Saliman shared with you earlier today and I wholeheartedly support, the CU Board of Regents has approved a compensation plan that includes an across-the-board 3% base-building salary increase and a one-time payment equal to 1% of an employee’s annual salary for all eligible faculty and university staff. We thank President Saliman for his support and the Board of Regents for approving these proposed salary increases. While CU Denver enrollments are slightly above June estimates, which is great news, we didn’t meet revenue thresholds that would have triggered automatic compensation increases. That result aside, I, along with the Regents, President Saliman, and my Chancellor colleagues at Boulder and UCCS felt that an increase in compensation is necessary. The 3% base-building salary increase will be applied across the board effective Jan. 1, 2022. The 1% one-time payment will be made in the January 2022 paychecks. More details regarding eligibility and parameters can be found on our FAQ page. Some additional actions we will take include:I
Dear CU Denver Faculty and Staff,
This decision is in recognition of your unwavering commitment to CU Denver’s mission and your extraordinary collective dedication over the last year-plus. I have been overwhelmed by how our community has come together to do whatever has been necessary to keep our students in school and our campus safe. Our people are our most important asset, and we are committed to living up to our values outlined in goal 5 of our 2030 Strategic Plan: being a people-centered best place to work. With that said, we must understand that pay increases without achieving our financial goals is not a sustainable model for the future. We must maintain our existing practices, which are designed to help ensure our financial vitality as an institution. I am optimistic that we will get there.Thank you all for everything you do. Please know that you are valued, and that this decision is just one indication of that recognition.
