Gratitude and Additional Holiday Leave

Dear CU Denver Faculty and Staff,The holidays are right around the corner, and I want to thank all of you for your hard work and commitment to CU Denver. We have successfully brought our students back to campus, we continue to make good progress toward our strategic goals, and strong adherence to our safety protocols have kept our campus COVID transmission low. None of this would be possible without your dedication to our university and to our students. Every day I feel gratitude for this community of faculty and staff who have persevered, often through personal hardships, to support our students and each other.Last week Governor Polis authorized 12 hours of extra holiday administrative leave for state employees, and we are granting our employees the additional leave as well: a full day on Friday, Nov. 26 and a half-day holiday (four hours of paid administrative leave) on Thursday, Dec. 23.I know that additional time with family and friends is a particularly special gift this year, since many of us were forced to give up visiting family or traveling last year due to COVID. I hope you are able to take this well-earned time to relax, focus on personal well-being, and spend time with loved ones.Some additional details about these dates include:
- Any employee providing essential services on Nov. 26 and/or for the full day on Dec. 23 will still be required to come to work on that day.
- If you are required to work on either or both of those days, you may choose to take that equivalent time as administrative leave, in coordination with your supervisors.
- Employees from consolidated units serving both campuses should follow the guidance from the campus consistent with their designated holiday schedule in My Leave, located in your CU Employee Portal, or other time system.
- Questions about how to take or enter your time should be directed to your school/college/unit’s Human Resources representative.
