Financial assistance for international students is limited. International students are allowed to work-on campus, but off-campus employment requires authorization from the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
If you are a graduate student, check with your department to find out if you are eligible for a teaching or research assistantship. Keep in mind that some departments do not award assistantships to first year graduate students. Also, some departments limit the number of terms a student may receive an award. It is important for you to know and understand the limits on the financial assistance available.
There are limited scholarships available for international students. If the scholarship for which you are interested does not state the citizenship status, you should contact the scholarship committee to verify. This applies to both University scholarships and scholarships offered outside of the university. The resource below offers scholarships from our scholarship lists, which are available to international students, and additional outside resources for further research. These resources are not all-inclusive so you may want to do additional research.
