- Spring hasn’t hit Denver yet, but the Spring Semester has hit our school! I know most of you have conquered your first series of tests and are moving fast towards the middle of the semester, I however am just now sending out the first Reisher newsletter of this semester! I will be sending these out about once a month, but you will notice some new changes. Let me know what you all think!
- FAFSA - It is time again to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as the FAFSA. Your deadline as a Reisher is April 1. If your 2011 taxes (and parent (s), if applicable) are not yet completed, use your 2010 taxes and then be ready to update your FAFSA with the correct data requested by the Financial Aid Office. Please let us know if you will not be able to complete this by the deadline.

- Hi everyone! We are half way through the semester! YAY! For those of you who read the newsletter, you will see that “Mary‟s Comments” is „Karly‟s Comments” today. I wanted to talk to you all about the CO-LEADS event taking place this Friday on campus. I attended this event last year and it was an amazingly, uplifting experience. It made me feel better as a person, built my character and got me excited to help my community. The event and the workshops that are included all support the idea of social equality and justice. I will be going this year and I welcome anyone to meet me in the Scholarship Office at 8:30am if they too would like to go. This event is great for any one, in any major, so I highly recom-mend you all to look into it and register if interested (see info below). Please contact me here at the office if you all have any questions.
- I also wanted to say how much fun I have had meeting all the new Reisher scholars and reconnecting with the continuing ones. I see many of you around campus while I am attending my own classes and I enjoying hearing about how your semester is going. If I have not seen some of you, please feel free to stop by the office or say hi when ever you see me. Remember we all make the Reisher Scholar community!

- I hope you all enjoyed dinner. I LOVED the cupcakes… thank you, James for providing the lovely guitar music for us. Congratulations to Josh Ash for finding „the needle in the newsletter.‟ Also, please welcome Lovie to our Reisher Scholar Family. He missed the orientation as he joined us later, but I know he will make up for this at future events! Please read the entire newsletter as we make a concerted effort to provide you with a variety of information on both our Reisher Family Scholar activities, and University opportunities. You could also get a prize… As I mentioned at the dinner, our social event for the semester is the ice hockey game between UCD and UCCS. Please join us for a two hour opportunity to get together as a group. Also, Karly and I would really like to have a team participate in the Homecoming Games. It is not about winning, but about the fun of getting out there and showing the University who the Reisher Family Scholars are! We also have two academic activities planned for this semester. Please read the additional information below. It‟s midterm time!! For the new scholars, this is not meant to be a stressor, but a way to review your semester and determine if there are any issues that need to be discussed with me. Read more below. Also, please make an appointment to see your advisor this month. Because you are on a tight schedule with this scholarship you need to continually update your plan to determine if there are any issues that we need to work through. Finally, thank you for being such a wonderful and inspiring group of individuals.

This is the final newsletter of this academic year. I wish you all well on the rest of your final papers and exams. I hope you all have an enjoyable summer and take the time to enjoy your families, friends and our beautiful state. Some of you are attending summer school and I applaud you for your tenacity. It will pay off, even if it does not seem so right now. Try to find a little down time! Please read the following information on requirements and due dates. The program will have even more scholars this next academic year, so please be mindful of the amount of effort managing this program takes, and respond timely and appropriately to my requests for action/documents. Thank you!
Thank you to each of you for the part you played in a wonderful spring dinner. James, your musical talents made us all proud. Elizabeth and Rose, your speeches were inspiring. Karly and Mysti-Dawn, your support of the program helped in the success of the evening. And seniors – your current and future success is inspiring. The attendance was great, but we missed those of you with other obligations. I look forward to continued success of our orientations and dinners.

Can you believe there are only 28 days until finals week? …Maybe you didn’t want to know that. Thank you for your response to the midterms and to those of you who made appointments to discuss classes that were not going as well as you had hoped. If you did not turn in your midterm, you are in violation of the agreement you signed, and this can affect any future scholarship funding. This will be the last Newsletter attached to email. In the future a notification will be sent with a link to the mentor website and the newsletter page. It is still your responsibility to read and respond to any requests on email.

- I hope you all had an excellent spring break, and caught up on sleep and relaxation.
- MIDTERMS ARE DUE TODAY, so if you are late, get them in soon in order to not be in violation of the contract. Most importantly, please let me know if it looks like you will not attain your required 3.0 GPA so that we can determine your best plan. I will be out of the office this week so leave an email, or contact Karly or Sharon for advice, if needed. I will check my email a few times, but it will be sporadic.
- Y3W ‘Your Three Words’ is required for this year’s dinner. This project must be turned in by March 28, so if you have not yet done this, do so immediately. Contact Karly with any questions, as she is in charge of this project. We are testing ways to communicate and spend an enormous amount of time placing info in the newsletter, website, Facebook and Evite. Please be courteous and professional by reading the information and properly responding (i.e. answer an Evite either way! )This is part of your requirement to the program. Constructive feedback on the process is helpful.
- Graduation plans are a requirement. You will be barred from funding in fall 2011 if one is not in the file. This should be completed with your advisor. If you have the advising paperwork (core and degree requirements) you should be able to complete the plan, or get assistance with your advisor. Contact Karly with any questions on this.

Thank you to those who came to Pancake Day and celebrated a bit of Mardi Gras spirit with the SRO! It is time again to collect midterm grades. This is an excellent time to make an appointment with your professors to discuss your classes, if you are not doing well, or to network if you are. Do not ask faculty to send me grades via email—it is not their responsibility. We are preparing the Your 3 Words as a thank you to the Reisher Family for the dinner this year. Please keep Karly sane by getting this to her timely so she can have adequate time to prepare this. I will be out of the office March 28 to March 21 so please contact Karly during this time.

I hope your semester is going well. I realize it is getting a bit crazy, with projects and tests now hitting all at once, but I hope you take time to relax a bit and enjoy just being you. Karly and I are working diligently to assist you as you navigate your college life. Midterms will be due soon, and registration AGAIN before you know it! A graduation plan is an excellent guide to prepare to assist in planning your courses. Complete and send one, if you have not already done so. Please review the activities noted below for the spring semester.
