Financial Wellness Outreach


Get on-track with your finances by enhancing your money decision- making through knowledge.

Why is this so important? The National Financial Educators Council (NFEC) defines financial literacy as: 

        “Possessing the skills and knowledge on financial matters to confidently take effective action
                   that best fulfills an individual’s personal, family and global community goals.”

Your financial well-being depends on what you know and what you do. The University of Colorado Denver's K-12 Financial Wellness Outreach Program maintains a focus to simply to provide awareness, improve financial mindsets, and enhance personal and financial well-being for  a lifetime. This program also offers one-on-one personal appointments, a variety of presentations and on-line learning sources to enhance your efforts toward financial responsibility. If you learn to be financiw​al responsible NOW, you'll graduate from high school and college with the necessary tools to make sound financial decisions.

National Standards in K-12 Personal Finance Education have been published by the National Jump$Start Coalition to guide classroom and developmental financial literacy education with helpful and valuable tools and materials for in a school or home setting with six main focal points:  1) Credit and Debt; 2) Spending and Saving; 3) Employment and Income; 4) Investing; 5) Risk Management and Insurance; and 6) Financial Decision Making.

CU Denver's K-12 (Pre-College) Financial Wellness Outreach program offers free workshops to support these standards.  Some workshop topics include: Budgeting and Spending​, Student Loan Repayment, Your Credit Matters, etc.  We can also customized our workshop and presentations to support your educational programming goals or needs.  Checkout the Financial Wellness Outreach Program website at on a regularly basis to review updated materials; register for upcoming events and presentations; to schedule an appointment or request a presentation; or to look for valuable resources and tools.  For questions, please send an email to Lesa Briggs at or​.​
