Work-Study is awarded by the Financial Aid Office, making it easier for students with financial need to find a part-time job and earn money to help pay for educational expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient's course of study. Eligible students are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
Work-Study employment is essentially the same as having any job – you find a position, you determine how many hours per week you will be able to work, and you are paid an hourly rate. All earnings are paid bi-weekly through automatic deposit to your bank account.
The University Work-Study program depends on Federal and State government funding. Each year the number of recipients of Work-Study awards will vary depending on fund availability. Sometimes students who would like Work-Study do not initially receive the award and other times students receive the award, but elect not to utilize it.
