Financial aid eligibility is based on the student's and parent's or spouse's previous year's income information. If you are classified as independent for financial aid purposes, family income includes your income and your spouse’s income, if you are married.
If you are classified as a dependent student for financial aid purposes, family income includes your and your parents' income. Dependent students who are orphans, wards of the court, or homeless will include only their income.
If there has been a decrease in your family income, then you may appeal to have us recalculate your eligibility for Federal Pell Grant and/or Federal Stafford Loan. Eligibility for other types of financial aid will remain based upon your previous year's income.
- 2012-13 Reconsideration of Income for Dependent Student (Parent)
- 2012-13 Reconsideration of Income for Student-Spouse
(2012-13 forms will be available in June 2012.)
CAUTION:
Income reduction appeals are an estimate of future earnings. Should your estimate be incorrect (that is, the student, spouse, or parent earned more than the projected amount,) you must report this immediately to the Financial Aid Office Appeals Committee. Failure to report these discrepancies may result in the reduction or cancellation of aid, and you will not be allowed to file future appeals, regardless of circumstances.
