College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Associate Dean and Professor
Associate Dean and Professor of Communication Brenda J. Allen has a unique perspective on her role as an educator. “I see the classroom as a learning community, and I am the lead learner.” That learning is one of her favorite parts of the job: “I get to continue to learn and grow. That’s why I was drawn to teaching.
“When I teach, my goal is that we all have a sense of learning—that we make progress in growth and development. I work to establish an engaged, safe environment to accomplish that goal.”
For Brenda, learning is a lifelong process. She infuses that philosophy into every course she teaches and onto every student she meets—a philosophy that resonates with her students and her peers.
