Honors programs

When I compared the opportunities in the University Honors and Leadership program (UHL) to other schools’ leadership programs, I felt like CU Denver offered more focus on academic excellence and growing the potential of each student.”
- Ryan Brody, Class of 2017
The courses in the UHL program are very cool. The program offers the opportunity to enroll in honors biology and chemistry. Being a student here opens doors for me in Denver.”
- Scott Cao, Class of 2017

A public research university with the benefits of a small liberal arts college

We offer programs for exceptional, highly motivated students who want to learn with purpose in small classes, forming close relationships with gifted teachers, committed advisors and fellow students.

  • University Honors and Leadership program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum, rewards intellectual curiosity and challenges you to expand your horizons. High-achieving students pursue an honors program in both academics and leadership studies. You will have opportunities to do research, study abroad and participate in activities that will develop your leadership skills side-by-side with leaders from other universities.

  • BA/BS-MD program admits a small group of outstanding students from broadly diverse backgrounds who want to serve the health care needs of Colorado as primary care physicians. Once they are accepted to the program, students can earn a seat at the University of Colorado School of Medicine provided they meet specific academic, non-academic and professional requirements annually.

All our students have the opportunity to do honors-level work, follow their passions, develop as leaders and launch fulfilling careers to fuel the future of Denver and the region. We are CU in the city.

Honors and Leadership

"I wanted our students to have the same kind of college experience that I had attending a small liberal arts college, even though they are attending a large state university. UHL’s unique integration of honors and leadership education provides enormous benefits for well-prepared, highly-motivated students.”
