Dear parents and family members of CU Denver students,

No matter what the age, the “back to school” time of year always carries with it a sense of excitement coupled with a tinge of anxiety. As a parent myself, I know that feeling extends beyond students to their loved ones as well.

As we approach the start of a new academic year, I want to welcome you to the CU Denver Parent & Family community. It’s my hope that it will help you and your students feel the comfort of being a part of the CU Denver family.

In addition to abundant opportunities for students to engage in internships, community service, research and creative work, there is a lot to look forward to this year at CU Denver. Students will kick off the year at the
CU Denver Block Party, an annual festival in the heart of our thriving city that showcases student resources, organizations and programs alongside food trucks, games and live music. Parents and families are invited to attend, too!

The Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center will welcome students into a “home away from home.” Among the fitness spaces, 3-court gymnasium, pool, student kitchen, study rooms and much more, students will find new ways to connect with one another and to their studies.

Also, coming this year,
LynxConnect will be a one-stop shop located in the Tivoli Student Union that will encourage students to explore and enhance their educational experience beyond the classroom. At LynxConnect, students can choose their own augmented academic adventure. From studying abroad to finding a job, getting an internship or doing research alongside their coursework, the opportunities are all within reach. LynxConnect staff are passionate about student success and can help guide students to understanding their opportunities on campus and how to leverage these to be successful in both their academic and professional careers.

Our top priority is the success of our students, and we value and appreciate our partnership with them and with you. I hope that our Parent & Family Program strengthens your connection to CU Denver, so that together we can better support your students as they navigate the opportunities and challenges of the upcoming academic year.

We welcome your questions and feedback. Please email to share your thoughts.

I close with my gratitude for the confidence you and your student are placing in CU Denver. We are honored they have chosen our university for this leg of their academic journey.

Thanks, and happy reading!
