Welcome from Chancellor Horrell

Dear parents and family members,

It is once again August—just before the start of a new academic year and the time that the university begins to buzz.

CU Denver Chancellor Dorothy Horrell, PhD

Faculty and staff are preparing for your students’ arrival with energy and enthusiasm. While their work greatly influences your students’ success, parents and families are vital partners in students’ journeys. With that in mind, I hope you enjoy this edition of the CU Denver Parent and Family e-newsletter.

In addition to the abundant opportunities for students to engage in internships, community service, research and creative work, there is a lot to look forward to this year at CU Denver. Students will kick off the year at the CU Denver Block Party, an annual festival in the heart of our thriving city that showcases student resources, organizations and programs alongside food trucks, games and live music. In the spring, the Student Wellness Center will open its doors, welcoming students into a brand new facility designed to be a “home away from home.” Among the fitness space, 3-court gymnasium, pool, student kitchen, study rooms and much more, students will find new ways to connect with one another and to their studies.

I hope that this newsletter strengthens your connection to CU Denver, so that together we can better support our students as they navigate the opportunities and challenges of the upcoming academic year.

Our top priority is the success of our students and we value and appreciate our partnership with you and with them. We welcome your feedback about what you would like to see in your inbox every month. Please email family@ucdenver.edu to share your thoughts.

Thanks, and happy reading!

Dorothy
