The Auraria Campus currently has a large and very diverse population of students dedicated to the betterment of our community combined with endless ambitions for their studies. As females, there are strong ties between all of us that have been damaged due to the stereotypical ideals of women. We have let our pre-conceived and rapid judgments hinder the potential that we have if efforts were met in collaboration of greater goals. I, along with others, have recognized this and have taken the initiative to bring a chapter of a multicultural sorority to our campus in hopes that we will be reunited in our shared vision for service, education, and creation of strong bond between one another. Currently, we are in no affiliation with the national sorority and would like to be recognized as a Sorority Interest Group, by the name of LUNA, which is the Greek word for "goddess of the moon". It is also an acronym for Leadership, Unity, Nationality, and Allegiance. We envision the future of our endeavor to promote the importance of success in higher education through support systems and resources as well as servicing the community in hopes of making little changes into legacies. Lastly, to also establish secure and long lasting bonds between our vast seas of similarities that we naturally share as females, but often forget about. ESTUDIANTIL, identifies the organization as a student group for we are part of our Razas future. At the heart of the name is the word CHICANO. At first seen as negative, now is taken as a badge of pride. In adopting their new identity, the students committed themselves to return to the barrios, colonias, or campos and together, struggle against the forces that keep our people oppressed. Lastly, the student affirmed that they were from AZTLAN, the legendary birthplace of the Aztecs, which reputedly is todays Southwest. M.E.Ch.A PHILOSOPHY: M.E.Ch.A. originated in the Southwest but quickly spread throughout the United States. M.E.Ch.A.s primary role in the Chicano movement are: 1. In this first semester our goals will be to build a large enough infrastructure within the club to make a positive impact in the community as well as create lasting friendships and memories. The club was started in the Spring semester of 2010. For the two months we worked on the logistics and set a good foundation on which this club will grow. The UHL Club is open to all years of the UHL Program.

Hip-Hop Congress is the product of a merger of artists and students, music and community. It achieves this mission in a variety of ways. The goals of Hip-Hop Congress Denver are to create a viable forum of students to work within the community to learn, express themselves and interact with a diverse range of ideas through hip-hop culture. Hip-Hop Congress Denver hopes to provide students with the tools they need to facilitate their own goals using Hip-Hop Culture. UCD Hip-Hop Congress uses the culture of hip-hop to inspire young people to get involved in social action, civic service, and cultural creativity. Past Events include: Sounds of the Underground, Students for Democracy Now, The Beat Down Sessions, The Get Down @ the Museum for Contemporary Arts Denver, Various Open Mic's and Art Galleries. Our Mission: Our mission as a club is to reveal the vital role science plays in our daily lives and provide educational resources for the physical sciences to students of all ages (elementary through college). We feel that science is a staple of our society and that science influences our daily lives, whether we are aware of it or not. Our club hopes to show the general public this vital role science plays in our daily lives, as well as encourage and aid those students seeking careers in science. We do this in a variety of ways including demonstrations of science experiments, organizing study groups, hosting speakers, attending conferences, holding public outreach events, and selling resource materials like ACS exam preparation books, teachers old exams and study aids. Our Activities: Demonstrations – We perform chemistry experiments for various age groups. These demonstrations are not only educational, but are exciting, hands-on, and fun. This type of activity implements a variety of learning styles and helps students solidify scientific concepts as well as see their “real world” application. We have a two hour orientation to train our members to carry out demonstrations safely while successfully conveying the topic addressed by the experiment to several different age groups. This year we will be starting a new program where we have monthly demonstrations and homework help at the Boys and Girls club of America. Public Outreach Events – We host at least one public outreach event each semester that shows the general public how science and chemistry influence their daily lives. In the past we have celebrated National Chemistry Week and Earth Day with big events incorporating poster sessions, educational games with prizes, demonstrations, informational packets, food, speakers and lots of fun! Conferences – Each year members from our club attend the American Chemical Society National meeting. This is an incredible opportunity to show the chemical community what our club has doing to spread the word of chemistry as well as learn about what is being researched and discussed in current chemistry and network. We are also interested in attending the Green chemistry conferences and other seminars occurring this year. We fundraise all year to allow some of our members this terrific opportunity. Student aids (study groups and resources) – Our club strives to help our fellow students to be successful in all of their classes. To do this we organize study groups for all physical science courses, sell ACS exam books and teachers old exams. Study groups are one of the most effective ways to understand and retain difficult scientific concepts, therefore we organize a place and time, and occasionally a meal for students to get together and get cracking on their homework. We also provide study resources like the ACS exams and teacher’s old exams so that students are prepared for the type of format they might see on exams. Other events – There are many other activities that our club is involved in. We host a number of speakers throughout the year to enlighten our students on the various types of research and opportunities available to them. We also do a number of volunteer projects including raising money for organizations (last year the Red Cross Tsunami fund), and working with the Volunteers of Outdoor Colorado (restoring and maintaining wildlife). We participate in American Chemical Society (ACS) contests like their poster contest and chemvention challege (we were in the national top 5 last year!) and other ACS events like National Chemistry week. And, of course, every club must fundraise and do recruiting. Leadership Opportunities – We feel that a club is the perfect opportunity to gain leadership experience. We strive to empower our students and provide as many valuable opportunities as possible to be creative and gain new skills and experience. We have, and will, create new positions dictated by the talents and interests of our club members.

The general purpose of this organization is to educate the student body on the topic of sustainability. The team will be focused on creating a positive atmosphere of college students and staff who are well versed in the area of sustainability and its relation to the interplay of issues that compromise social justice, economic equality and viability, and ecological health. G.A.P. will work closely with faculty members from varying departments in order to tailor its activities to provide a holistic knowledge of sustainability. An accompanying goal of the organization is to prepare the campus for a shift to sustainable conduct outlined by the UCD Sustainability minor program and the Sustainable Campus Program (SCP). GAP will plan and host several creative outreach events (concerts, film showings, panel discussions, etc.) in order to create a climate that is suitable for the shift to sustainable conduct and to impact individuals such that they will continue sustainable practices once they leave the Auraria campus Previously, GAP was involved in educating the student body on three main topics: Environment, Politics, and Ethical conduct. GAP dispersed unbiased, poignant information on campus with the hopes of raising the awareness and agency of the student body. GAP's premier event was a social awareness jeopardy game that tested students on the facts that had been released on a weekly basis.

New Era Colorado is a state-based youth political engagement organization reinventing politics for a new generation through innovative social and political action. New Era has brought a new way of thinking about politics to Colorado since its inception in 2006. We deliver a new energy to Colorado politics through unique voter registration drives and innovative programs such as the alternative candidate debate Meet The Candidates, Roll Call, Trick or Vote, and our signature New Era bus trips. New Era’s programs and style have been ideal for college campuses. We have built a presence on campuses around Colorado, registering thousands of voters and turning out even more to the polls. New Era’s goals for a CU-Denver student Chapter: o To foster civic engagement and political awareness through innovative campaigns and activities at CU-Denver o To provide our student members and the general campus population with the tools and knowledge to meaningfully affect change in their communities and political systems. o To establish a campus of engaged, informed students motivated to use politics as a tool for social change. o To harness the power of young and volunteer grassroots energy on the Auraria campus to impact important local elections, legislative efforts and ballot measures. Potential Volunteer Program Areas o Voter Registration: Through our high-energy, engaging tactics, which often include roller skates, costumes and music, we need volunteers to help prepare students for the 2009 elections. During the 2008 election cycle New Era Colorado used these innovative and exciting methods to register over 10,000 people under 30, most of them students on campuses around Colorado. o Trick or Vote (TOV): We will Partner with New Era Colorado staff, interns and volunteers for a large, non-partisan mass GOTV effort for the fall 2009 elections. A main focus will be to prevent voter drop-off among young voters. In 2008, New Era Colorado organized over 200 volunteers and knocked on over 6,200 doors in low-propensity areas. Studies show our work led to a 4% increase in voter turnout. We will be leading a similar effort this year. o Internship Program: The internship program will involve learning tools of social change through political and social engagement. This is not a “coffee-getting” internship. Our internship focuses on skills acquisition and program implementation. Interns will assume leadership positions in our voter registration drive, issue campaigns, and further development of New Era Colorado.
