My name is Gordon Nytes and I am a 21 year old
Marketing Major at the University of Colorado Denver. Although I have lived in
Colorado most of my life, I was born in Falls Church, Virginia and moved to
Littleton just before my first birthday. Growing up I was incredibly active and
almost immediately after learning to walk participated in basically any sport
my mother would allow me to, before finally branching off and sticking to
hockey which would be a passion I continue to carry with me to this day. After
five years of being an only child, I was blessed with a younger brother named
Patrick who although made me share the attention, ended up becoming one of my
best friends. My mother and father made sure to bring us up by teaching us
strong Catholic values as well as the importance of family both of which I hold
close to me to this day. I graduated from Dakota Ridge High School in 2009 and
initially attended The University of Northern Colorado for my first year of
college before transferring to CU Denver in the fall of 2010. One of the things
I am most proud of is starting the Ice Hockey team at CU Denver which also
happened to be the first sports program in the history of the University. It
has been an honor to represent the school on and off the ice as one of the
first student athletes. If elected to
the Senate position, I hope to continue to promote the development of athletic
programs here at the University as well as meet new people and bring an upbeat,
charismatic attitude to the SGA program.
