Lacrosse is one of the
fastest growing sports in the country. While traditionally centered in the
East, Colorado is quickly becoming a national hotbed for the sport: Colorado is
home to the two farthest West D1 programs; the national championship MCLA team
(and the runner-up); a large amount of competitive teams ranging from youth
through masters leagues in both outdoor and indoor lacrosse; the Vail
tournament – a nationally acclaimed annual tournament; and many strong high
school programs that continually put players into competitive college programs.
CU Denver seeks to continue to grow the game of lacrosse in Colorado as a
competitive college club team.
As a club, our long-term
goal is to be a competitive MCLA team, playing with the likes of Boulder and
CSU. Our short-term goals are to simply field a team, get better each year, and
have some fun along the way. The 2014 season will be CU Denver’s first time
taking the field. For our first season, we boast a roster of over 20 players
coming from various lacrosse backgrounds, including NCAA division schools,
local and non-local high schools, and competitive MCLA teams.
