Student Organization Leadership Summit
The Leadership Summit provides a gathering space for students from a variety of organizations, including club sports, to develop skills, build connections, and learn how to lead effectively. The inaugural Student Organization Leadership Summit exceeded 120 participants representing a variety or academic, social, cultural, and leadership organizations on campus. The event will motivate and inspire student leaders and allow them to share best practices for a successful academic year.
New Student Convocation
New Student Convocation is the official welcome for all new students to the University of Colorado Denver. Similar to graduation being the end of a student’s university experience, this event marks the beginning of a student’s time at CU Denver and involves a pinning ceremony. This is an opportunity for incoming students to come together for their first official university event. Student organizations are encouraged to attend the tabling event afterwards.
Student Involvement Fair
Held during the first week of the fall semester, the student involvement fair is a great way to kick off a new academic year and make your organization visible across the Auraria Campus. Come out and meet new students through this tabling opportunity!
Student Org Council (SOC)
The Student Organization Council convenes on the first Thursday of every month for professional development, catered dinner, and networking. SOC provides a unique opportunity and environment for you to develop your personal leadership skills and learn from other successful student organizations. Council meetings are available to student organization officers and general members.
Fall Fest and Spring Fling are the biggest events of the year coordinated by CU Denver, MSU Denver and Community College of Denver. During each day of the two-day event, student organizations and campus departments promote their organizations while nonprofit and for-profit vendors invite the campus community to learn more about the products and services they provide.
The student Orgs President’s Retreat is a day-long leadership experience focused on meaningful dialogue and development around ideas and action plans to implement within CU Denver student organizations. Student leaders will have the opportunity to establish collaborative relationships with their peers, as well as engage in personal development outside of the traditional conference experience. The retreat will focus on developing collective and unique strategies for organizational change as they relate to organizational continuity and succession planning.
The Milo Awards celebrated CU Denver student leaders, who have displayed an excellence amongst their peers, faculty, and staff. This annual event is held every late spring and is open to any student who would like to attend the semi-formal banquet. A few featured awards are Team Captain of the Year, Peer Advocate of the Year, Outstanding Student Led Event, Student Leader of the Year, and many more!
