How the Office of Student Health Promotion is working for you!

CUltivate Wellness was a weekly feature from the Office of Student Health Promotion to inform students of health promotion facts, resources, and on-campus activities & initiatives. We invite you to read, share & participate in all the great opportunities that will be available to you! CUltivating Wellness facts are archived on this webpage and were included in the weekly CU Anschutz “Campus Happenings” student e-newsletter.


CUltivate Wellness! Improve your snooze: Learn about ways you can improve your sleep habits - Sleep smarter by evaluating your sleep needs, responding to those needs, and maintaining a healthy, rested body. ​


CUltivate Wellness! Healthy eating: Only nine percent of CU Denver & CU Anschutz students consume the recommended 5 daily servings of fruits and vegetables. Eating more fruits and vegetables as part of an overall healthy diet is associated with decreased risk of heart disease, certain cancers, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Explore these creative ways to bring fruits & vegetables into your diet. 

CUltivate Wellness! Student Wellness Needs & Interests Survey: The results are in! Learn about health and wellness priorities of CU Anschutz students and check out what the Student Health Promotion Committee is doing to address student needs.

Healthy Campus Steering Committee (HCSC) & Student Health Promotion Committee (SHPC): The HCSC is made up of campus leadership and provides strategic direction for student health promotion initiatives. The SHPC is led by students from each school/college and focuses on implementing health initiatives and creating a culture of campus health & wellness. Check out the committees’ webpages to learn more about how these groups support student well-being. ​


CUltivate Wellness! Campus mental health resources: The Office of Student Health Promotion provides an online list of mental health resources, policies, initiatives & activities available to all CU Anschutz students. Check it out to learn how CU Anschutz supports student mental health and well-being.


CUltivate Wellness! Looking for health and wellness events on campus? Download the Student Health Promotion Committee (SHPC) April calendar for a list of healthy happenings and check out SHPC on Facebook for more event details.

Cultivate Wellness! How healthy are CU Anschutz students? 71 percent of our students report that they practice a healthy lifestyle or have made health behavior changes in the last year. Ready to make some changes of your own? Check out these CDC (Centers for Disease Control) tips to boost your health and well-being


CUltivate Wellness! Physical activity for students: According to the Wellness Needs & Interests Survey, students are most interested in free group fitness classes, competitive or fun runs, and additional intramural sports. The Student Health Promotion Committee (SHPC) is currently working towards implementing physical activity initiatives this spring to address student interests. Follow SHPC on Instagram for updates on future physical activity opportunities!
