Student Health Insurance Plan


2017-2018 Plan Information 

  • The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus offers health insurance through the UnitedHealthCare Insurance Company and provides a UnitedHealthCare StudentResources Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan. 

  • All students enrolled in a degree program and certain approved certificate seeking programs taking 1 or more credit hours are automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan unless a waiver is submitted and approved by the stated deadlines each academic year. 

  • Enrollment in the student health insurance plan is limited to the Fall semester for annual enrollment, except for new students in the Spring or Summer semesters or for students who qualify for late enrollment. 

  • Refunds will only be made upon the entry into the armed forces of any country. 

  • Students must actively attend classes the first 31 days of the semester for which the student purchased health insurance coverage.   

  • If the student withdraws from school or drops below the required credit hours within the first 31 days, a refund will be given.  

  • Students who withdraw will not be entitled to any benefits and no claims received will be honored.  

  • No other refunds will be issued except for entry into the armed forces or withdrawal from school within the first 31 days of the semester in which the student enrolled.​ 

  • ​You can waive out of the student health insurance plan by filling out an insurance waiver (available late summer 2017). Your personal insurance must meet all the requirements stated under Enrolling or Waiving Health Insurance to be approved. Waivers must be submitted each year before the stated deadlines.​​


2016-2017 Plan Information

  • The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan is an annual, full service medical plan tailored to the needs of students. The plan is underwritten by UnitedHealthCare and adminstered by AmeriBen. The AmeriBen customer care team can be reached at 1-855-639-8679.

  • Coverage is effective through August 31, 2017 and students are then automatically enrolled in the 2017-2018 plan with coverage effective September 1, 2017.

  • No option to term off the plan mid-year.  

  • Enrollment in the 2016-2017 student health insurance plan is limited to the Fall semester for annual enrollment, except for new students in the Spring or Summer semesters or for students who qualify for late enrollment.
