The HANDDS Program was founded in 2011 in response to research identifying inequities in the provision of bystander CPR in Denver communities. The research demonstrated that neighborhood demographics, such as income and race, were associated with reduced rates of bystander CPR. To address the disparities in CPR in Denver Neighborhoods, the HANDDS Program was formed to provide targeted CPR training in at risk communities. It is the ongoing mission of the HANDDS program to increase awareness and education surrounding cardiac arrest and bystander CPR in order to combat inequities in bystander CPR and improve survival in these neighborhoods.
