Congratulations on your admission to the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver)! Participating in orientation is a great way to learn what you need to know for your first-semester at CU Denver, downtown campus. You will interact with fellow students, staff, and faculty to learn about the following:

  • Campus resources.
  • Academic deadlines and policies.
  • Parking and transportation.
  • And much more!

General Program Information

Student Checklist: All new students should review and complete the necessary items outlined in the Student Checklist.

Parking: Park in the Tivoli Parking Garage (Parking map and ADA accessible parking mapby entering 9th Street and Auraria Parkway. Parking ONLY for the Tivoli Parking Garage will be validated if you bring your ticket to the orientation check-in desk.

Location: North Classroom 1130 (Parking map). 

Disability Resources and Services: If you are a new student who may need special accommodations due to a disability, please contact the Disability Resources and Services.

Fall Welcome 2013

Fall Welcome is designed for all new students, specifically non-degree and post-secondary students transitioning to CU Denver. Please note that academic advising will NOT be available at this program. Students with academic advising questions will be referred to the appropriate office. Following the program, students will walk to the Tivoli Turnhalle to participate in New Student Convocation!

Date and time: August 16, 2013, 11:00 am (check-in begins at 10:30 am).

International Student Orientation

Welcome to the University of Colorado Denver, downtown campus! We are looking forward to meeting you soon.
 
Attend International Student Orientation
All international students with an F-1 or J-1 visa are REQUIRED to attend the orientation on August 14th (for graduate students) or on August 15th (for undergraduate students) and the all new student orientation on August 16th. At International Student Orientation, the following topics will be covered:
  • How to maintain your F-1 or J-1 status
  • How to navigate your first few weeks at CU Denver and Colorado
  • Insurance, health and safety
  • Cross-cultural adjustment
  • Trips for succeeding in the U.S. academic system

Dates and times:

All new international students August 16, 2013

AND

All new international graduate students August 14, 2013

OR

All new undergraduate students August 15, 2013

The times of the orientation will be sent to your email. Please register at http://international.ucdenver.edu/checkin

Location: North Classroom 1130 (Parking map).

Check-in with the Office of International Affairs. For more information or further assistance, call 303-315-2230 and ask to speak to an International Services Coordinator. The office is open from open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Mountain Standard Time.

Transfer Welcome

We encourage you to attend a Transfer Welcome which features sessions designed specifically for transfer students. Please note that academic advising will NOT be available at this program. Students with academic advising questions will be referred to the appropriate office. 

Transfer Student Requirements: All transfer students are welcome to attend. However, transfer students are not required to participate in this program.

Veteran Student Requirements: All newly admitted veteran students are required to attend a Transfer Welcome. For more information, contact Veteran Student Services at 303-556-2630.

Sign up for Transfer Welcome: Newly admitted transfer students can sign up to attend a Transfer Welcome by visiting their UCDAccess student portal. 

Academic Advising and Registration: Transfer students should make an academic advising appointment once they are admitted. All transfer students are required to 
meet with an academic advisor before registering for courses. Your academic advisor will review your transfer credits, discuss CU Denver degree requirements and help you register for your first-semester courses.

Graduate Students

Welcome Graduate Students! All academic advising for the graduate programs are done by the department. Please contact your department for information about academic advising and course registration. If your department is holding a specific orientation session, that information will come directly from the program.
