CU Launch!

All Events Open to All First Year Students

Whether you are living on campus or at home, we invite you to participate.  Students living at home, please bring your CU Denver ID card to all events happening in Campus Village.  You may park for free in the Walnut Lot during CU Launch!  For a Campus parking map, please visit  All First Year students living at home will also receive 1 parking pass per event that you attend to use anytime during the school year in the Tivoli Garage.

Research has shown that student experience in the first weeks of college plays a major role in academic success, retention and graduation. Extended Orientation and Welcome Week is an opportunity to have a positive impact on your success as you transition academically and socially to university life. We encourage all new students to participate in any or all events.

Events and Activities at Campus Village Apartments

There are numerous events and activities planned for the week leading up to the start of classes to help you get to the campus and the resources available to you. We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to get to know your classmates and get a head start on your transition to CU Denver. Keep checking back for a complete list of events and activities! Move in for Fall 2014 is August 14, 2014!

CU Launch! Passport

Pick up your CU Launch! Passport from any Launch! event.  Fill out your passport and be eligible to win an iPad, Auraria Bookstore giftca​rd, CU Denver gear, and more.

Dear Students,

Congratulations on admittance to the University of Colorado Denver. You are joining a community steeped in the distinction in learning, research and creativity, community engagement, and clinical care.

Faculty, staff, and students have been planning a variety of activities to facilitate your transition to CU Denver and the Denver community. You are invited to join us in the "CU Launch!" extended orientation program that will feature our traditional new student welcome ceremony and a host of other fun activities.  We believe this experience will ease your transition and build on your sense of community with your classmates, faculty, and staff. Campus Village Events and Move-In

New Student Move-In begins at 10:00 AM

All CU Denver First Year students are required to move-in to Campus Village on this day unless you have been approved for an exemption to the live-in policy. You will receive more information about your specific move-in time as we approach the start of the year.

4:00 PM - Students - First Floor Meeting (with your RA)

All CU Denver First Year students living in Campus Village will meet together with the RA's to get acquainted and learn more about the services and policies of Campus Village and CU Denver. Residents will also learn about Roommate Agreements and CU Launch! 2013 Activities.

Events for All Students

4:00 PM - Parents- Welcome Session (Campus Village Courtyard)

We invite all parents to join the Dean of Students and other CU Denver administrators for a welcome reception and question and answer session. Light refreshments will be served.

6:00 PM - Dinner on Own

Eat in the Campus Village Cafe for the first time using your meal plan or find dinner on your own in beautiful downtown Denver.

8:30 PM - Taiko Performance

Join us for a pre-comedy, cultural, musical experience with a local Taiko Drumming group.

9:00 PM - Bovine Metropolis Improv

After a hard day of lugging boxes, meeting your roommates, and organizing your drawers come and enjoy a good laugh with a local improv comedy troupe started by CU Denver alumni.

10:00 AM - RTD and Room Essentials - Meet on the Campus Village Front Steps

Forgot to pack a shower curtain? Need to have an alarm clock for that 8:00 AM class? Fridge looking a little bare? Just wanting to meet people and learn how to use RTD? Join RA's, Peer Educators, and PALs as we take RTD to a local shopping destination and take care of your last minute needs. Get your shopping done and learn to use the Light Rail. Bring your RTD Pass! You can get your RTD Pass at the ID Center, 2nd floor of the Tivoli Student Union. Make sure you have already gotten your RTD Pass to take this shopping trip.  If you have not, meet the PALs at 9:00 AM on the Campus Village front steps to get it.

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - BBQ Sponsored by Student Government (9th Street Park)

First Year students can enjoy a free lunch with current CU Denver student leaders and administrators.  Just bring your CU Denver ID card and receive lunch on us.

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM - Ice Ice Baby Party - Tivoli Student Union Commons (9th Street Park)

Get to know your classmates in a fun an interactive way. Continue to cool down with this free Ice Cream break.

6:00 PM Commuter Student Community Dinner (Walnut Parking Lot) OR Dinner with your Floor (Campus Village Cafe, time determined by your RA)

Commuting from home?  Join us for a free community dinner with other students living at home.  Remember to bring your student ID card.  Living in Campus Village?  See your RA for details on when your floor is meeting.

7:00 PM - Casino Night (Campus Village Courtyard--All First-Year Students and Campus Village Residents welcome)

Test your fate against lady luck at poker, blackjack, roulette and other Vegas Style games. Prizes, "Mocktail" lounge, and food. This is a free event (no "buy in") where everyone is eligible to win prizes!

10:00 PM - Outdoor Movie Night (Campus Village Courtyard--All First-Year Students and Campus Village Residents welcome)
Join us for free popcorn and a movie in the Campus Village Courtyard after collecting your winnings from Casino night.

10:45 AM - Pancake Breakfast (Campus Village Courtyard--All First-Year Students and Campus Village Residents welcome)

We're cooking up a welcome breakfast for new students. Join us in the Campus Village courtyard starting at 10:45 AM to the annual pancake breakfast preceding convocation.

11:30 AM - March to Convocation (Begins at Campus Village, all First Year Students welcome)

At 11:30, First Year Seminar Faculty and other CU Denver officials will lead the march to the 2013 New Student Welcome and Convocation.

12:00 PM - Convocation and BBQ (King Center and Lawrence Street Lawn)

Convocation is a traditional celebration that honors the CU Denver incoming class. Beginning with a processional from Campus Village Apartments, you will be welcomed by administrators, campus leaders, faculty and staff. Convocation is designed to mark the significance of your embarking on this educational endeavor. The ceremony features a keynote speaker who will offer words of wisdom and encouragement. Immediately following Convocation, you are invited to attend the CU Denver BBQ where you will meet new friends and learn more about the opportunities that await you as you begin your college journey. Families are invited to attend.

2:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Free Time

Use this time how you like.

8:00 PM - Karaoke Night - Campus Village Courtyard
Come join us for a carnival atmosphere with Karaoke and free food!

Choose your own Adventure

9:00 AM - Day Hike - Meet at CVA Lobby

Dawn your hiking shoes and grab your RTD pass.  Don't forget a water bottle!  Start the day by packing a sack lunch with us (we'll provide the fixin's). Join students and staff at North Table Mountain for a hike that's good for all levels of hikers.

12:00 PM - 16th Street Mall Shopping Trip and Mini-Downtown Tour - Meet at CVA Lobby

Bring your RTD pass and join us for a shopping trip on one of the United State's best pedestrian malls.  We'll also show you the basics of getting around Downtown.

12:00 PM - Stop and Serve - Meet at CVA Lobby

Begin your college career by making a difference. The CU Denver Experiential Learning Center will be facilitating service learning projects focused on our community.

8:00 PM - On-Campus Outdoor Movie Night
We'll be hosting a movie night featuring a movie to be announced later this summer!

11:00 AM - Not LOST! - Meet in the Campus Village Lobby (All students welcome)

Join CU Denver Students and RA's as they guide you around campus before the first day of classes.  Bring your class schedule and learn exactly where you'll need to go to make it to class on time.  This is a great time to ask questions!

1:00 PM - Campus Scavenger Hunt

Learn about campus resources and have a chance to win prizes!

6:30 PM - 8:00 PM - B Cycle Lesson and Bike Tour of Denver - Meet at the B Cycle Station in front of Campus Village

Join CU Faculty and Staff to learn how to use the Denver B Cycle bicyle sharing program. Take a bike tour of Denver-use a B Cycle or bring your own bike! Meet at the B Cycle Station in front of Campus Village.
