Faculty, staff, and students have been planning a variety of activities to facilitate your transition to CU Denver and the Denver community. You are invited to join us in the "CU Launch!" extended orientation program that will feature our traditional new student welcome ceremony and a host of other fun activities. We believe this experience will ease your transition and build on your sense of community with your classmates, faculty, and staff. Campus Village Events and Move-In
New Student Move In
All CU Denver First Year students are required to move-in to Campus Village on this day unless you have been approved for an exemption to the live-in policy. You will receive more information about your specific move-in time as we approach the start of the year.
4:00 PM - Students - First Floor Meeting (w/RA)
All CU Denver First Year students living in Campus Village will meet together with the RA's to get acquainted and learn more about the services and policies of Campus Village and CU Denver. Residents will also learn about Roommate Agreements and CU Launch! 2012 Activities.
Events for All Students
4:00 PM - Parents- Welcome Session (Campus Village Cafe)
We invite all parents to join the Dean of Students and other CU Denver administrators for a welcome reception and question and answer session. Light refreshments will be served.
6:00 PM - Dinner on Own
Denver restaurant owners want to welcome CU Denver students and show off all that Downtown Denver has to offer. Look for specific information on special CU Launch! deals as we get closer to the start of the semester.
8:30 PM - Taiko Performance
Join us for a pre-comedy cultural, musical experience with a local Taiko Drumming group.
9:00 PM - Bovine Metropolis Improv
After a hard day of lugging boxes, meeting your roommates, and organizing your drawers come and enjoy a good laugh with a local improv comedy troupe started by CU Denver alumni.
10:00 AM - RTD and Room Essentials - Meet in the Campus Village Lobby
Forgot to pack a shower curtain? Need to have an alarm clock for the 8:00 class? Fridge looking a little bare? Just wanting to meet people and learn how to use RTD? Join RA's and CU Denver staff as we take RTD to Wal-Mart, King Soopers and other local shopping destinations and take care of your last minute needs. Get your shopping done and learn to use the bus downtown. Bring your Student ID with RTD Sticker! You can get your sticker at the ID Center, 2nd floor of the Tivoli Student Union. Make sure you have already gotten your sticker to take this shopping trip.
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Community Lunch--Location TBD
Bring your Campus Village meal card and enjoy lunch with current CU Denver student leaders and administrators. Not a resident of Campus Village? Just bring your CU Denver ID card with a current RTD sticker and receive lunch on us.
1:00 PM - 2:30 PM - Ice Ice Baby Party - Tivoli Student Union Commons (Flagpole Area)
Get to know your classmates in a fun an interactive way. Continue to cool down with this free Ice Cream break.
Evening Dinner with your Floor
See your RA for details on when your floor is meeting. Not a resident of Campus Village? Join us for Casino Night after dinner.
8:00 PM - Casino Night
Test your fate against lady luck at poker, blackjack, roulette and other Vegas Style games. Prizes, "Mocktail" lounge, and food. This is a free event (no "buy in") where everyone is eligible to win prizes!
10:00 - Pancake Breakfast - Campus Village Courtyard
Faculty and staff will once again don their aprons and raise their spatulas to cook up a welcome breakfast for new students. Join us in the Campus Village courtyard starting at 10:00 AM to the annual pancake breakfast.
11:30 AM - March to Convocation
At 11:30 First Year Seminar Faculty and other CU Denver officials will lead the march to the 2011 New Student Welcome and Convocation.
12:00 PM - Convocation and BBQ
Convocation is a traditional celebration that honors the CU Denver incoming class. Beginning with a processional from Campus Village Apartments, you will be welcomed by administrators, campus leaders, faculty and staff. Convocation is designed to mark the significance of your embarking on this educational endeavor. The ceremony features a keynote speaker who will offer words of wisdom and encouragement. Immediately following Convocation, you are invited to attend the CU Denver BBQ where you will meet new friends and learn more about the opportunities that await you as you begin your college journey. Families are invited to attend.
2:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Free Time
Use this time to find your classes, get to know campus, pick up last minute books and supplies, explore Denver, eat in the Campus Village Cafe, and get your RTD sticker (get your sticker at the ID Center, 2nd floor of the Tivoli Student Union).
8:00 PM - Block Party Night - Campus Village Courtyard
Come join us for a carnival atmosphere with Karaoke, a free Photo Booth, and free food!

9:00 AM - Day Hike - Meet at CVA Lobby
Dawn your hiking shoes and grab your Student ID with RTD sticker. Don't forget a water bottle! Start the day by packing a sack lunch with us (we'll provide the fixin's). Join students and staff at North Table Mountain for a hike that's good for all levels of hikers.
10:30 AM - 16th Street Mall Shopping Trip and Mini-Downtown Tour - Meet at CVA Lobby
Bring your Student ID with RTD sticker and join us for a shopping trip on one of the United State's best pedestrian malls. We'll also show you the basics of getting around Downtown.
10:30 AM - Stop and Serve - Meet at CVA Lobby
Begin your college career by making a difference. The CU Denver Experiential Learning Center will be facilitating service learning projects focused on sustainability, such as planting trees, recycled crafts and an energy scavenger hunt. Get to know your campus and help make it green!
5:00 PM - Rockies Meet and Eat - Location TBD
If you purchased Rockies ticket vouchers at Orientation or during CU Launch! you can pick up your tickets here. If there are tickets left, you can purchase them here.
Got your tickets through us? Join us for a free pre-Rockies game dinner. We'll walk over to Coors Field as a group. Don't forget to show your CU Denver spirit!

9:00 PM - Outdoor Movie Night - Campus Village Courtyard
Join us for a relaxing evening in the courtyard with an outdoor movie. Movie selection to be determined.
11:00 PM and 1:00 PM - Not LOST! - Meet in the Campus Village Lobby
Join CU Denver Students and RA's as they guide you around campus before the first day of classes. Bring your class schedule and learn exactly where you'll need to go to make it to class on time. This is a great time to ask questions!
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM - B Cycle Lesson and Bike Tour of Denver - Meet at the B Cycle Station in front of Campus Village
Join CU Faculty and Staff to learn how to use the Denver B Cycle bicyle sharing program. Take a bike tour of Denver-use a B Cycle or bring your own bike! Meet at the B Cycle Station in front of Campus Village.
