Writing Letters of Recommendation

Have you been asked by a student to write a letter of recommendation for graduate school? Here are some helpful hints:
·         Ask for an updated copy of his/her resume
·         Draw from personal interactions with the student in which you were left particularly
·         Cite examples of academic work in order to demonstrate readiness for graduate programs
·         Don’t be afraid to include areas for improvement
·         Set aside an hour to meet with the student one-on-one to discuss topics that should be
 addressed in the letter
