Job Search 101: Foundations of Job Searching

·         Description: Get a jump start on your job search with this interactive workshop. This foundational workshop is beneficial for those who beginning a job search, soon to graduate, or have been searching awhile with no results. You will learn the steps to job searching, which job search methods will work for you, and create an action plan to keep you on track! In other words, the ABC’s and 123’s of getting a job.

Identifying: Finding your Niche

·         Description: Clarify what makes you unique, and learn how to build a professional reputation that will allow you to distinguish yourself; including how your skills and strengths match up with the world of work. Then, discover ways to identify which potential jobs/industries are a good fit. You will learn the steps and resources to finding job opportunities.
 
Networking: From Shaking Hands to Social Media

·       Description: You know you need to network, but if you’re like most students the thought of networking your way to a job is not only a little bit confusing, but it’s downright intimidating! And yet, it IS true. Networking is your best return on investment when it comes to landing a job. Attend this workshop and learn what networking actually is, how to get started, how to maintain and develop those contacts, and how to build new networks both in person and online. Then put your new knowledge to work and practice networking skills. Hors d’oeuvres (appetizers) included.

o   Description: Did you know 92% of companies use or plan to use social media to recruit? This workshop is designed to gain a foundational understanding of LinkedIn and how to begin creating a professional profile.

o  Times (1 hour): 1:00-2:00 & 2:00-3:00pm
o   Description: This workshop will teach you what you need to know before, during, and after the interview.  Hear the tips and advice that will allow you to make the strongest first impression, including what to wear, how to answer common interview questions, what to ask a recruiter, and more.  Get the chance to actually practice interview questions and receive feedback from an employer on how to improve your interview skills.
