Sarah Trzeciak, MS

Director

Sarah Trzeciak brings more than six years’ experience providing client-focused counseling to a diverse group of clientele. She is certified on Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, and Strength Quest. She believes in helping clients find the language to communicate their strengths to an employer, colleagues, families and anyone who may also be assisting in their job search. She has her Masters` degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University.
 
She is also a seasoned presenter, having presented to groups as small as three to as large as two hundred. She believes that a successful presentation or workshop includes audience participation, and tailors her presentations to each group in order to more fully connect with the audience. She also cares deeply about current economic trends and in particular, how they are changing the field or Career Centers across the nation.

Jessie Czerwonka, MA, LPC, NCC

Assistant Director

Jessie Czerwonka has served both undergraduate and graduate students at the CU Denver Career Center since June of 2007. She has her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education with a focus in Career Counseling from CU Denver, is a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Certified Practitioner, a National Certified Counselor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor.
 
Jessie has been recognized nationally and was selected to participate in the National Career Development Association (NCDA) Leadership Academy. Additionally, she has served in multiple board member positions locally in the Colorado Career Development Association (CCDA).
 
As Assistant Director, Jessie provides assistance in major and career planning; résumé, CV, and cover letter development; interviewing skills; networking tactics; and the basics of the job search process. She has assisted in career fairs and attended CCDA, NCDA, Collegiate Career Services Association of Colorado & Wyoming (CCSA), and Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges & Employers (MPACE) functions. Her passion and expertise are in guiding students as well as alumni in exploration and discovery of an ideal career path.

Rebecca Martinez, MA

Administrative Services Coordinator

Rebecca Martinez is a Colorado native who graduated with her degree in English from Metropolitan State University of Denver. She also recently completed her MA in Nonprofit Management. Rebecca has spent the last 10 years supporting young people in their education endeavors, through various AmeriCorps programs and youth development agencies.

Jamie K. Guilford MA

Employer Relations & Outreach Coordinator

Jamie Guilford brings 5+ years of experience in career services, employer relations, and teaching to the CU Denver Career Center.  She received her Master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).  As Employer Relations & Outreach Coordinator, Jamie is focused on strengthening and building new relationships with employers as well as defining strategies that will allow employers to become more engaged on campus with students and alumni.  She also manages the On-Campus Interviewing program and assists students to better understand employers’ expectations so that they can best prepare for the job search/interviewing process.  Jamie is a member of ACPA (College Student Educators International), CCDA (Colorado Career Development Association), CCSA (Collegiate Career Services Association of Colorado & Wyoming), & MPACE (Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges & Employers).

Nick Shaklee, MA

Career Counselor

Nick recently completed his Masters` degree in Community Counseling from Regis University and focused his education and internship experience within career counseling. Nick approaches career counseling from a holistic stance that focuses on developing a professional identity through experience, education and understanding of self. Nick believes it is with this understanding that a person can know what they can contribute and be successful. Nick sees education and careers as a way to give purpose and meaning to a person`s life. Come discover your purpose!

Scott Treas, MA, NCC

Career Counselor

Scott received his Masters’ in Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and has been focused on inspiring and empowering students and alumni to live happy, healthy, and productive lives ever since. He hopes to see students define their purpose, develop who they are, and engage their passions. Scott sees career as more than a job, but the story in which we view our world.
 
As a career counselor Scott has the opportunity to support students in their educational and professional goals; from choosing a major to exploring future jobs. Scott also provides coaching with résumé’s, CVs, cover letters, interviewing, job searching, social media presence, and personal branding. He also enjoys working with groups of people, including: teambuilding, workshops, group counseling, as well as small and large group presentations.
 
When not on the Auraria Campus, you can find Scott playing in the mountains, biking around town, talking in a coffee shop, or adventuring with his family.

Negin Moallem

Graduate Student Advisor

Negin Moallem is the Graduate Student Advisor at the Career Center. She received her Bachelor degree in Psychology from University of Colorado Denver, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in School of Education and Human Development in Clinical Counseling. Negin helps clarify any questions students might have regarding resumes or cover letters during Quick Tips hours.
