Adam Lerner is the Director and Chief Animator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, a position he has held since 2009. Before then, he ran the Laboratory of Art and Ideas at Belmar until The Lab merged with MCA Denver. He was the Master Teacher of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Denver Art Museum and, before coming to Denver, he was the curator of the Contemporary Museum, Baltimore. His unique approach to museum programming has been adopted by several other museums, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Siquieros House in Mexico City. He is the author of a book about collectors of unauthenticated art to be published by Princeton Architectural Press. He co-organized with Elissa Auther the exhibition West of Center: Art and the Counterculture Experiment in America, 1965-1977, accompanied by a book of the same name published by the University of Minnesota Press.
