Join these workshops facilitated by the CU Denver Writing Center designed to help ESOL students improve their English writing skills in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

English grammar and mechanics:
This workshop will address the most common errors consultants encounter in clients' writing. It will cover the basic usage and rhetorical purposes of commas, semicolons and colons as well as parallel structure.
Application essays, letters and statements: This workshop will define the subtle differences between personal statements, directed application essays and letters of intent. It will also discuss what should and should not be included in each, and address common mistakes. After discussion, participants will complete a few exercises to brainstorm potential topics and begin writing their pieces.
GRE timed writing prep: This workshop is designed for participants who are preparing to take the GRE timed writing exams. Partipcipants will learn and practice strategies for effectively reading and responding to timed writing prompts. Time will also be devoted to discussing time management and electronic scoring systems.
