Students/Alumni may not falsify information found on their résumé or cover letter.
The University of Colorado Denver Career Center is committed to academic honesty.
Student/Alumni’s job search activities and all communication with employers and Career Center staff should reflect this commitment. Your job search materials, including résumés and cover letters, must contain accurate, up-to-date information on work and education experience, student status, degree program (including courses taken), grades received, positions held, and duties performed. If misleading or false information is reported to the Career Center, immediate services privileges may be revoked.
Students/Alumni should only apply for jobs or schedule interviews for which they qualify.
Students abusing the system and found applying for multiple jobs for which they do not qualify may have their access to services and the Just ASK! Job Link suspended indefinitely.
If needed, students/alumni should cancel their scheduled on-campus interviews or other appointments as early as possible.
Cancelling at the earliest possible time allows other students the opportunity to take your place. Call the University of Colorado Denver Career Center at (303) 556-2250 to cancel your appointment.
Students/Alumni should call at least 24 hours ahead of their appointment time to cancel or reschedule. If a student is more than 15 minutes tardy, they will not be seen and must reschedule or use Quick Tip appointments. No shows, frequent rescheduling of appointments, and tardiness are not reflecting professional job search etiquette . Employers require and expect professional behavior in the job search, and the Career Center mirrors this expectation and challenges students to develop these professional behaviors early in their job search.
After three or more requests of last minute rescheduling, 15 minutes late arrivals, or failure to show up for any scheduled appointment, students/alumni will lose their eligibility to schedule 50 minutes appointments with a career advisor. Offending students will only be eligible to utilize the Career Center’s drop-in 15-minute QuickTips. This will remain in effect for two semesters following a notification from the Career Center. The Career Center wants students to be respectful of staff time and to develop appropriate job search etiquette.
Students who miss an on-campus interview appointment with employers without cancelling ahead of time will be required to write a letter of apology to the employer that is sent within 48 hours of the scheduled interview time before they are able to interview again through the Career Center. Apology letters should be grammatically correct, and a copy needs to also be sent to the Employment Services Coordinator.
Students should communicate openly with employers.
Students should respond to employers in a timely manner. Students should not accept job offers which they may not want. Instead, students should ask for a decision extension if needed.
The following situations may result in a student becoming ineligible for Career Center services.
- Abuse of the Just ASK! Job Link, including applying for multiple jobs for which one does not qualify.
- Providing misleading or false information on résumés or cover letters.
- Missing multiple appointments (3) without 24 hour notice of cancellation
- Failing to write a letter of apology within 48 hours of a missed interview set up through the Career Center.
- Other unethical business practices (to be determined by the Career Center administration) that reflect poorly on the University of Colorado Denver Career Center.
