WHO QUALIFIES: CRITERIA FOR EMPLOYERS
The following policy is established to determine eligibility of an employing organization or individual to utilize any employer services at the University of Colorado Denver, in accordance with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles for Professional Conduct.
Eligible Employers
- Must have current or anticipated job openings for college graduates or alumni.
- Must have an “employer-employee” relationship in which there are no fees associated with becoming an employee of the organization, not including professional licensure fees that may need to be covered by the employee (ex. Insurance licensing fees to sell insurance, etc).
- Must comply with all federal, state, and local Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations.
- Third Party Agencies (temporary agencies, temp-to-hire agencies, search firms, etc.) can participate in career fairs and post jobs on Just ASK! Job Link only when they meet the following requirements:
- Provides disclosure of position(s) posted on Just ASK! Job Link and employer he/she represents for recruiting activities.
- Acknowledges that the Career Center may verify with employer the third party recruiter relationship with employer.
- Provides information concerning UCD candidates employed through the agency (candidate, employer, and salary).
- Promises to not use résumés attained from job postings for referral to any other job or employer.
- Acknowledges that third party agencies are not eligible for other employer services.
Ineligible Employers
- Home Based Businesses are not eligible to participate in UCD’s employer services.
- Network Marketing Organizations and Franchise/Business Opportunities are not considered "employers" by the Career Center and are not eligible to participate in any employer services. Such organizations are those that engage in one or more of the following practices:
- Sponsorship of an individual in setting up his/her own business for the purpose of selling products or services and/or recruiting other individuals to set up their own business (Direct Sales Organizations).
- Requirement of an initial investment from individuals with the organization itself serving as an umbrella or parent corporation. The initial investment may be direct payment of a fixed fee, payment to attend an orientation or training session, and/or purchase of a starter kit.
- Compensation is often in the form of straight commission, fees from others under their sponsorship in the organization, and/or a percentage of sales generated by others.
- Medical Marijuana Organizations: companies and staffing firms serving the medical marijuana industry are ineligible for on campus recruiting.
The Career Center reserves the right to deny service to any organization whose policies or goals are determined to be in conflict with the mission of the University of Colorado Denver. The final approval for employers to utilize University facilities and services rests with the Director of the Career Center.
CRITERIA FOR POSTING PROFESSIONAL AND STUDENT HOURLY POSITIONS
Students and alumni of UCD look to the Career Center’s online recruitment system, Just ASK! Job Link for professional employment or student hourly opportunities. The following policies are established to determine eligibility of an employing organization or individual to use the Just ASK! Job Link:
- The position may not be located in a private residence or a home-based office (ex. Nanny, Personal Assistant)
- The employment organization must have a payroll and human resources liaison to which the student employee may seek recourse in the event of a workplace conflict or dispute.
- The position cannot be commission-only.
- The pay rate must (at least) meet the Colorado state minimum wage (calculated over any time scale such as hourly, weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, or annually).
Professional positions are employment opportunities which require a Bachelor’s degree or higher, are salaried, and utilize the knowledge skills acquired through UCD coursework and programs. These positions can be classified as either Full-Time or Part-Time.
Student Hourly positions are employment opportunities that do NOT require a degree and are flexible to a student’s class schedule. These must be paid positions that can be classified as full- or part-time.
ON CAMPUS INTERVIEWS/OFF CAMPUS INTERVIEWS
The Career Center is happy to help you connect with students through on- or off-campus interviews. This can be done through a Preselect Schedule, which allows you to select the candidates you wish to interview once they have submitted their résumé through our online database. You can also elect to conduct interviews through an Open Schedule,which allows any qualified candidate to sign up for an interview by selecting any available timeslot.
To be qualified to conduct on-/off-campus interviews, your organization must meet the requirements listed in the Who Qualifies section above. Third-Party Recruiters are not eligible to participate. Job postings must be submitted at least one month before the interview date.
Cancellations within five days of a scheduled interview will be documented and consideration for future events will be evaluated.
WEBSITE ADVERTISING
Links and small banner advertisements are available through our website for a small fee. We reserve the right to deem any organization ineligible for advertisements through our website if we determine the policy or goals of an organization are in conflict with the mission of the University of Colorado Denver.
CANCELLATIONS AND RESCHEDULING
If you need to cancel or reschedule your on-campus interview or information table please notify the Career Center staff as soon as possible. If you need to reschedule your on-campus interviews, we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Information Table: Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice or no shows will be charged the full fee amount.
On Campus Interviews: Cancellations within 5 days will be documented and consideration for future events will be evaluated by the Career Center.
REPORT A HIRE
Placement information is an important metric for the University in terms of ranking and accreditation and for the Career Center’s ability to determine the effectiveness of its programs. We require that any organization that uses our services report all placements to the Career Center. Click here to report a hire.

Career services and employment professionals are involved in an important process—helping students choose and attain personally rewarding careers and helping employers develop effective college relations programs which contribute to an optimum selection of candidate for their organizations. POLICY ON ALCOHOL
UCD is committed to creating and maintaining an environment that is free of alcohol abuse. As a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the Career Center abides by the Principles for Professional Conduct, a document that serves as the framework and foundation for ethical practices within the career planning and employment recruiting processes.
