Colorado State University – Pueblo
Patrick plans on graduating in 2012. He is currently going to school full time “and a half” as he states. The load is demanding but it is what is required to become an APRN. His curriculum encompasses theory, health delivery concepts, regulations, and research modalities as it pertains to nursing science. There is much reading and many papers to write. Patrick’s plans have not changed. He will work in the community in which he lives and serve the traditional population treated by nurse practitioners. He will serve the poor and underserved. He continues to be in the workforce. He has reduced his work time to one day a week just to maintain his skill sets. He is currently working at a regional hospital (San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center) serving a population of 40,000 in 6 rural county area in the south central part of the state. He is currently working as a registered nurse.
